Project | Design and Computational Analysis of Centrifugal Pump​

The aim of the project was to study improvement the efficiency of low cost centrifugal pumps. Commonly used pumps in India have low efficiency and waste large amounts of power. As part of this project, the efficiency of a popular low cost pump was computationally analyzed. This project was done as part of a team of three students.

Project | Electro-active Polymer based Actuator Design

Biomimetic design based on inspiration from nature for solutions for engineering problems has been practiced throughout human history. Invertebrate animals without a skeletal structure have flexible, robust and agile movements. Inspired by octopus arm, in this thesis are investiagted different design concepts and requirements for using dielectric electroactive polymers (EAP) for designing of flexible actuators and manipulators.

Project | FMEA and FEA of Car Seat System: Internship TATA Motors Ltd. Crash Testing Facility

A car seat design is evaluated for real world safety environment. Every mechanical design has to be evaluated for robustness and safety margins. This is due to the different loading conditions the design shall be subjected to during its life cycle. Proper design calculations ensure that the number of failures and failure modes are well understood and classified. In this project a car seat system design has been evaluated for Failure Modes using techniques like fishbone diagram, boundary diagram and FEA.
